Gimmelwald in the Bernese Oberland, Switzerland Located in the Lauterbrunnen Valley near Wengen and Mürren.
We are a car-free village. Park in Stechelberg and take the Schilthorn cable car. You will reach the hotel in just three minutes on foot.

Getting to Gimmelwald by public transport
- Take the train from Interlaken Ost to Lauterbrunnen.
- In Lauterbrunnen, transfer to the bus heading towards Stechelberg (get off at the “Schilthornbahn” stop).
- Take the cable car to Gimmelwald (Gimmelwald is the first stop on the way up to the Schilthorn).
- You reach our hotel in a 3-minute walk (Gimmelwald is car-free!).
Getting to Gimmelwald (Stechelberg) by car
- Drive from Interlaken Ost to Stechelberg (via Lauterbrunnen).
- Park your car at the parking lot next to the Schilthorn cable car station.
- Take the cable car to Gimmelwald (Gimmelwald is the first stop on the way up to the Schilthorn).
- You reach our hotel in a 3-minute walk (Gimmelwald is car-free!).
Arrival via the “Bear Trek” (Hiking)
- Gimmelwald is located on the famous “Bärentreck” (Bear Trek), a section of the Via Alpina.
- Hike from Meiringen over the Grosse Scheidegg to Grindelwald, then up to Kleine Scheidegg, down to Wengen, and finally to Stechelberg.
- Note: From Stechelberg, we recommend taking the cable car up to Gimmelwald
